Take advantage of your summer to complete SPAN 424: Advanced Spanish Composition and Grammar taught by a faculty member from Universidad de San Andrés. The coursework will focus on Argentina, so students will get a dose of Argentine life while staying local.
Universidad de San Andrés is a small, private liberal arts university in Buenos Aires, Argentina and they are our partner for the Summer Language and Culture in Buenos Aires, Argentina program.
Class will be Monday-Friday for approximately 2 hours per day. The dates are December 20-23, 27-30, January 3-14.Exact class time is TBA.
The course content will be focused on Argentina language and culture including the use of vos, the pronunciation found in Argentina called yeísmo, urban legends and traditions, tango and Argentine music, stereotypes in Argentine culture, and the crisis of 2001.
The course will include clips and short films, music, presentations, and writing practice.
SPAN 424 is a 3-credit course and a requirement for both the Spanish major and minor.
Open to students who have completed SPAN 340. Minimum 2.5 GPA. Exceptions considered after submission of a petition.
Please note that students will not be able to use any form of federal financial aid (federal grants or federal loans) to pay for any part of the program cost due to restrictions of taking online courses and international institutions.
Students are able to apply for a Study Abroad & Global Engagement Virtual Scholarship. Awards are up to $500.
