Established in 1992 after the fall of the Soviet Union, the HSE University has become one of Russia’s leading universities and one of the most respected institutions for the study of economics, social sciences, mathematics, and computer science in all of Eastern Europe and Eurasia. One of four HSE campuses, the flagship Moscow campus enrolls approximately 18,000 students from more than 50 countries around the world in a variety of academic programs, including English-taught undergraduate, graduate, semester and summer programs. The Moscow campus is located throughout the city, thus studying at HSE offers students the opportunity to explore Moscow’s unique neighborhoods, museums and historic sites. HSE also offers a wide range of services to students, including recreation facilities, counseling and health services, and dozens of student organizations, such as volunteer, performing arts, sports, debate and dance clubs.
Moscow, the capital city of Russia, is well known for its unique architecture including such historic buildings as the Kremlin and Saint Basil’s Cathedral. Moscow is also home to two notable art museums: the Tretyakov Gallery and the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts. With a population of over 12 million in the metropolitan area, Moscow is Russia’s largest city and its political, financial and cultural center.
HSE is a comprehensive university offering. Courses are taught not only by distinguished Russian professors, but also by renowned international specialists and visiting scholars. International students studying at HSE may study Russian as a foreign language as well as English-taught or Russian-taught courses in all available disciplines.
Students enroll directly into courses at the HSE University Moscow. All students will complete one course in Russian language training appropriate to their level, as well as three or more courses in the discipline of their choosing. A typical semester course load includes 12-15 transferable KU credit hours. HSE offers courses in the following disciplines in English: Communications, Media and Design, Computer Science, Economics, History, International Relations, Law, Management, Mathematics, Philosophy, Psychology, Public Policy, Russian Studies, and Sociology.

HSE has four international residence halls, all just a short metro ride to campus. Upon arrival, students will be placed in a double-occupancy room within one of these halls. There is a kitchen on each floor and each building is equipped with recreational features and laundry facilities.
