Primary office:


Michele Arellano (she, her, hers), Associate Director, holds a M.S.Ed. in Higher Education Administration and a B.G.S. in Sociology both from the University of Kansas.  Her main responsibilities are managing the online study abroad application system, overseeing all student services functions (admissions, enrollment, financial aid, payments), serving as liaison to select student affairs and enrollment management offices (Admissions, Bursar, Financial Aid and Scholarships and Registrar), coordinating Graduate level study abroad and the Graduate Direct Exchange programs in Germany, and assisting the Director with daily office management.

Michele has been with Study Abroad & Global Engagement since July of 2002. Prior to working in Study Abroad she was a Financial Aid Advisor and Verifier at the KU Financial Aid and Scholarships office.  Michele is an active member of NAFSA: Association of International Educations, and serves as the Chair of the NAFSA Education Abroad Regulatory Practice Committee.   Although Michele did not study abroad in the traditional sense, she spent most of her youth abroad (12 years), living in the Philippines, Yemen and Indonesia and traveling throughout Southeast Asia and Western Europe.  Her most recent travels were Japan, as a University of Kansas representative for the Hiratsuka and Lawrence Sister City 25th Anniversary Celebration, Vietnam to visit family, and to Costa Rica for KU's 60th Partnership Anniversary with the University of Costa Rica.
