  • Students will create a publication, The London Review, to chronicle their trip to London
  • Learn to appreciate the culture and history of London

The London Review will allow students to plan and research a visit to London, to spend Spring Break of 2024 visiting London, and to create a publication of reviews and essays about their stay.

Students will spend the weeks in the semester before Spring Break deciding on the productions and exhibits they plan to visit. They will conduct research on those events, each student specializing in a particular aspect of the visit. They will also study the genre of the literary/arts review, examining audience and publication possibilities.

After returning from London, the class will spend the remainder of the semester publishing The London Review 2024. Each student will be responsible both for writing reviews and for helping to put together the journal.

Before and after spring break, students will attend class on Wednesdays, from 4:30 to 6:00pm. The group will leave for London together on Friday, March 8 and return on Sunday, March 17. They will attend several performances and exhibits as a group during that week. During the stay in London, students will meet mornings to organize for the day's events and to discuss the play or other performance to be attended. Each morning the event's specialist will give a presentation to prepare students for the performance or exhibit.

In addition to the planned group activities, each student will be assigned to find two additional events to review. The students will attend these events during their free time in London. The entire scheduled visit will be in London, but students may choose to go for short day trips outside of London during their free time.
