Study Abroad & Global Engagement Statistics

During the 2022-2023 academic year, including summer 2023:

  • The University of Kansas sent a total of 1,060 degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students abroad.
  • 23.1 percent of KU undergraduate students participated in a study abroad program prior to graduation.
  • KU ranked 65th in the nation among all reporting institutions (860 total) in the total number of study abroad participants.

The above data and associated rankings are reported in the Open Doors 2024 Report on International Educational Exchange produced by the Institute of International Education.

Data reported for the U.S. Study Abroad Survey lag one year behind due to the time required for credit transfer to take place after students return to their home campuses.  Data for academic year 2023-24 including summer 2024 will be available in November 2025.
