During the 2021-2022 academic year, including summer 2022:

  • The University of Kansas sent a total of 980 degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students abroad.
  • 21.3 percent of KU undergraduate students participated in a study abroad program prior to graduation.
  • KU ranked 15th in the nation among public doctoral institutions for undergraduate participation in study abroad programs.
  • KU ranked 35th in the nation among public doctoral institutions in the total number of study abroad participants.

The above data and associated rankings are reported in the Open Doors 2023 Report on International Educational Exchange produced by the Institute of International Education.

Data reported for the U.S. Study Abroad Survey lag one year behind due to the time required for credit transfer to take place after students return to their home campuses.  Data for academic year 2022-23 including summer 2023 will be available in November 2024.
