Biography

Renée Frias, Program Coordinator, holds an M.A. in Curriculum & Instruction (emphasis in Teaching ESL) from the University of Kansas and a B.S. in International Business and Spanish from Northwest Missouri State University. Her main duties include advising students and coordinating programs in East Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Additionally, she coordinates short-term Architecture, Design and Visual Art study abroad programs.

Renée has been a Program Coordinator at Study Abroad & Global Engagement since February 1999. As an undergraduate student, she studied abroad a semester at Vysoká Škola Bánská Technická Univerzita (VŠB) in Ostrava, Czech Republic and a semester at TEC de Monterrey in Querétaro, México. She has interned with the Quéretaro State Economic Development Office in Quéretaro, México and HIT International Education Counseling Company in Istanbul, Turkey. As a graduate student she received a Tinker grant for research in Brazil, a country she enjoys visiting often with her husband, who is originally from there. Renée has traveled to 22 countries around the world including Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan, China and Hong Kong.She also participated in the Fulbright International Education Administrators (IEA) Seminar in South Korea in 2015.
