Passport Application Fees
- Review the tables below to determine your application fees.
- The Department of State has the most-up-to-date fees. It is a good idea to double check the fees listed below with those on the department's website, as they may have changed since this web page was last updated.
- Please note: Passport application fees and passport acceptance fees are two separate fees made out to two separate organizations.
- Application fees are made out and sent to the U.S. Department of State. The U.S. Department of State only accepts money orders or checks (personal or cashier). Payment to the U.S. Department of State must be exact; overpayments could result in significant delays in processing.
- Acceptance fees are made out to the University of Kansas. KU accepts money orders, checks, or cash.
- If you are applying for both a passport book and a passport card, you will pay both application fees but only one acceptance fee of $35 per applicant. This is reflected in the third row of the "Adult Fees" and "Minor Fees" charts.
- If you need to rush your passport processing, delivery of the application to the U.S. Department of State, and/or delivery of the finished passport products to you, add the appropriate fees to the amount that you pay the U.S. Department of State and/or the University of Kansas based on the "Additional Services" chart.
- For example, an adult applicant paying for a passport card ($130) and book ($30) with expedited processing ($60) and 1-2 day return ($22.05) and who is having their photo taken at the Passport Center would pay the U.S. Department of State a total of $242.05. They would pay the University of Kansas $50 ($35 acceptance fee + $15 photo fee).
- Please also note that if you will be having photos taken at the Study Abroad & Global Engagement Office, you will owe the University of Kansas a total of $50 per applicant ($35 acceptance fee plus $15 photo fee).
