KU students receive Foundation for Education Abroad scholarships to study abroad

LAWRENCE - Two outstanding University of Kansas students were selected as recipients of two highly competitive national scholarships to fund their overseas studies.

The Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) is dedicated to providing study abroad scholarships to students who are historically underrepresented in study abroad programs. This year the FEA awarded more than $310,000 in scholarships and funding to 96 undergraduates planning to study abroad in Summer, Fall, and Academic Year 2024-2025.

Rita Pham and Kevin Ly are the two University of Kansas recipients of this year’s FEA Scholarships.

Rita Pham, a double major in Political Science and East Asian Languages and Cultures, is a first-generation college student studying abroad in the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark during summer 2024. She is a recipient of the DIS Study Abroad Access Partner Scholarship. Learn more about Rita.

Kevin Ly, a junior double majoring in Business Analytics and Information Systems and minoring in International Business, is a first-generation college student studying abroad in Seoul, South Korea during the fall 2024 semester. He is a recipient of the Malú Alvarez Global Access Scholarship. Learn more about Kevin.

During the summer and fall 2024, KU Study Abroad & Global Engagement is supporting nearly 900 students on study, internship, research and other university-affiliated international activities.  KU consistently ranks in the top 40 among public doctoral institutions for the total number of study abroad participants as reported in the annual Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange produced by the Institute of International Education.
