Consistently ranked as one of the top universities in Italy, the University of Trento is a dynamic and innovative research and teaching institution with strong connections to industry and top-class services. Founded in 1962 this mid-sized university has a student population of over 17,000 including its 1,500 international students. With 11 academic departments and 4 centers (located in Trento, Rovereto, Povo, and Mesiano) there are several areas of study to choose from in Italian as well as options in English.
Trento, Italy is an Italian city located in the Adige River Valley, which is a glacial valley just south of the Dolomite Mountains in the Alps, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Trento acts as a educational, financial and political hub in northern Italy, partially due to the University of Trento being located here. The city is surrounded by mountains, allowing for beautiful sights at all times of the day. The city center has a picturesque Medieval feel due to its historic buildings--such as Castello del Buonconsiglio and Trento Cathedral--that line the streets. Even though Trento maintains a Renaissance atmosphere, it is very much a cosmopolitan city in this day and age. Trento is actually located in one of the wealthiest provinces in Italy, and it is continuously ranked as one of the best cities in Italy to reside in.
Semester & Academic Year
Undergraduate and graduate students studying for the semester at the University of Trento may earn up to 15 hours of KU credit. Courses and grades will be posted as KU equivalents on a student's academic transcript and grades earned abroad will figure into the KU GPA. Students should discuss their plans with their academic advisor(s) to ensure that courses completed in Trento will be applicable toward their KU degree. The full semester programs at The University of Trento offer a limited number of courses in English, thus students applying to this program should be prepared to take courses in their major in Italian. A minimum of four semesters of college-level coursework in Italian is required.
Summer School at Trento

The International Summer School program at the University of Trento offers courses in English. The programs offered change year to year to better cover a variety of departments. To keep up-to-date with the programs on offer you will need to reference Trento's Summer and Winter School webpage.
Students participating in a bilateral exchanges with the University of Trento are eligible to apply for student accommodations through the Opera Universitaria website, a provincial institution that supports students in finding accommodations in residences or shared flats at highly affordable rates. Students are also able to look at off-campus housing options.
The University of Trento welcomes international students, and will make you feel right at home. The Welcome Office organizes activities throughout the term that are open to all international guests including: guided tours of Trento in February and September for newcomers; bus tours of the surrounding regions, Italian conversation sessions, and a buddy system for new students.
